STRATA
Development of a biotest for the early stages of the Palaemon serratus shrimp to assess chemical risk in the marine environment: application to the perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) family.

ANSES 2023
Summary

The STRATA project aims to develop a biotest for the early stages of the Palaemon serratus shrimp species, which will be used to assess chemical risk in the marine environment.

Life traits and behaviour will be monitored throughout the larval phase in the biotest, and a proteomic approach will be used to characterise the mode of action of contaminants. Particular attention will be paid to experimental design, for example by using a large number of concentrations, to enable the use of high-throughput dose-response modelling tools. The biotest will be used to evaluate the toxicity of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
