The research aims to acquire knowledge for environmental biomonitoring analyses on fish immunomarkers as predictive markers of effects at higher levels of organization. Immunomarkers are a good complement to conventional methods used in environmental biomonitoring because they account for potential effects on individuals, facilitating earlier and more explanatory assessments of the impact of contamination on organisms. The current challenge is therefore to improve our understanding of the mechanisms involved in interactions between environmental stress and immune responses. Prior to any field study, it is therefore necessary to understand the natural variation range of our biological markers to avoid diagnostic errors when assessing the health of species in the environment.

Current projects therefore involve studying the fluctuations of our immunomarkers in relation to seasonal parameters in order to define a baseline value for the immunomarkers. To better understand the limits of organisms' adaptability to chemical stress, studies aim to define threshold values beyond which a physical, chemical, or biological phenomenon will cause an irreversible effect.
