Alain GEFFARD

My research is organized around two components: 

1. Better understanding of the toxic effects of emerging contaminants (chemical and biological) on aquatic organisms in order to identify and characterize biomarkers of interest for biomonitoring aquatic environments. This work focuses primarily on a bivalve mollusk (Dreissena polymorpha), but also on the threespine stickleback (in collaboration with colleagues from the INERIS unit) and gammarid (in collaboration with INARe Lyon).
2. Development of a bioassay based on the caging of dreissena (Dreissena polymorpha) as a tool for diagnosing and monitoring the chemical and health quality of water bodies.
