DIADeM
Development of an integrated approach for diagnosing water quality in the Meuse River
-

The project will generate new and original knowledge across the interregion, as well as methods for assessing the quality of water bodies that would not be feasible for each region alone.
The project aims to bring together various cross-border stakeholders concerned with the protection of aquatic environments (academics, managers, users) while informing citizens of the risks posed by the degradation of water bodies.

The major river systems, such as the Meuse, exhibit hydrological and ecological continuity that is unaffected by national borders.
Although the monitoring of these environments is carried out within a European framework, many initiatives to develop new tools are being implemented at the national or even regional level.
In order to foster cross-border continuity, the DIADeM project aims to pool knowledge and expertise to deploy solutions that are applicable across the cooperation area. The project will generate new and original knowledge in the cross-border region, as well as assessment methods for water body quality that would not be achievable by each region independently.
The project seeks to bring together the various cross-border stakeholders concerned with protecting aquatic environments (academics, managers, users), while also informing citizens about the risks associated with the degradation of water bodies. DIADeM will help raise awareness among the cross-border population about the potential consequences of discharges into natural environments and will thus emphasize that we all have a role to play in maintaining the quality of our resources.
