At the University of Le Havre, as part of the CRUScH project, I am investigating potential local adaptations in various populations of Palaemonid shrimp (Palaemon elegans and Palaemon serratus) exposed to contaminants (copper, imidacloprid, permethrin, and phenanthrene). This exploratory project involves studying 30 shrimp populations spanning from France (Dunkirk) to Spain (A Coruña) through ecological (counting and biometrics), genetic (RADseq and population connectivity), and ecotoxicological (bioaccumulation measurements and laboratory exposures) analyses. Population survival in the presence of different contaminants will be compared during short-term exposures. Subsequently, the populations will be studied over the long term to determine whether these resistance traits are fixed (local adaptations) or transient (phenotypic plasticity).
