Florence Bultelle mainly studies the stress response of the blue mussel, an emblematic species of coastal environments, and its freshwater counterpart in ecotoxicology, the Dreissena. These filter-feeding organisms are good indicators of environmental conditions. We aim to characterize the impact of chemical, physical or microbial stress, whether single or complex, by analysing protein modifications. These modifications reflect the organisms' defence capacity (e.g. resistance, adaptation) or their inability to cope. This work is part of the search for environmental diagnostic tools. Two approaches are being developed: on the one hand, an open proteomics approach aimed at identifying proteoforms whose abundance varies and, on the other hand, a targeted approach based on measurements of enzymatic markers involved in the stress response.
