The joint research unit Environmental Stress and BIOmonitoring of Aquatic Environments (UMR-I 02 SEBIO) conducts research in the field of aquatic ecotoxicology, using scientific approaches focused on the effects of environmental stressors. SEBIO is a multi-institutional unit, based at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA), the University of Le Havre Normandy (ULHN), and INERIS in Verneuil-en-Halatte.

The unit brings together, within a single structure, a range of scientific and technical expertise dedicated to understanding the effects of contaminants on aquatic organisms, as well as to developing and validating tools for the biomonitoring of water bodies. The work of the UMR spans a continuum of water masses, from freshwater ecosystems to transitional estuarine and coastal waters.
